Cricket Chirpin

I recently learned one of those random facts that get stored away in my brain as useless information from a Snapple can. You may have heard it already, being the wise farmer that you are. You can determine the temperature by cricket chirps, just count the number of chirps you hear in 15 seconds then add 40 and voila, you know what temperature it is. You should try it sometime, it just may not be too effective today--it is the first day of Spring and we woke up with snow on our roofs this morning. As you can imagine, there aren't many crickets chirping outside. However, I know you have heard plenty of crickets from our blog over the last several months! So I thought I would give a little update on what has been going on in the Tyger household.....we have FINALLY started the process to bring LT (little Tyger) home!! Now, don't get too excited, this is a P-R-O-C-E-S-S. But starting is something so we are celebrating that!

Remember when you were a kid and people would ask you how old you were, and you would say "six and a half", because you were so over being "six"?  Well, I say, welcome back half birthday. I turned 29.5 in January while on a ski trip with a group of about 40 crazy kids from our church. Now I know we had told you previously that 30 is a really big deal. True. BUT 29.5 meant we could start the process!

After we got back from the ski trip we finished up our Medical Conditions Checklist and submitted it along with our application to CCAI (the agency we have chosen for our adoption) and to a local agency to do our home study.
I was so determined to get these applications in the mail as soon as we had them completed (and notarized!) that I actually chased down our mailman to give them to him!
Once our applications were received, we began the paper-chase. Now, I am a nurse. I KNOW about a lot of paperwork. This is my life. So when I talked to people that have adopted before and they said "there is so much paperwork", I thought, I've got this, it can't be that bad. HAHA it is SO MUCH PAPERWORK  and we are just beginning!! It is so much paperwork that sometimes I just have to laugh because otherwise I just sit immobilized by the volume of it. (the other day we had to sign a paper verifying that we had signed a paper!)
Here is a portion of what we have worked through so far...

This was the paperwork we turned in so that we could schedule our first home study visit, including an autobiography from both of us (Allen's was literally twice the length of mine ! :) )
We have started to locate all of the documentation needed for our Dossier, which we will submit after the homestudy is complete. This has included getting passport pictures and updating passports, marriage and birth certificates, verifying income, letters of recomendation and verification of employment letters, background as you can imagine, this is what our desk looks like about 99% of the time...

(Miles just couldn't resist a photobomb moment)
So our first homestudy interview is underway and we are hoping to have it completed by sometime in May.
Other than just the paperwork, we have been doing a few other things to get ready for LT.
I had my adoption physical, complete with a lot of labwork!

We have begun transforming the room from this (this picture was taken in July 2014...seeing that was such a good reminder of how far we have guys we have been saving and hoping and planning for this for over two years!!!)
To this (we started painting the room yesterday!!)

We also had one of our sweet friends, Ashley Moore, (you can check out her work at who is just starting her own photography business, take a few pictures for us! Here is a sneak peek...more to come soon!
We also continue to save money and raise funds through Noonday Trunk Shows, like this fun one I had recently! Check out the new spring line at my website!

Be watching for a post very soon about how you can now begin supporting us in our adoption!

Thank you all so much for your support already. We appreciate each and everyone of you and are so excited to continue sharing our journey with you!
